Opatija is often referred to as the "Pearl of the Adriatic," is a stunning coastal town located on the east coast of Istrian peninsula. Villa Angiolina, a 19th century mansion, was the first notable building in Opatija and now houses the Croatian Museum of Tourism. The iconic statue, Maiden with the Seagull, which has become the symbol of Opatija and the entire Kvarner region, stands on a rock by the sea along the Lungomare promenade. It replaced the earlier "Madonna del Mare" statue and represents a young woman holding a seagull, capturing the spirit of this coastal town. On the promenade is suited also the Croatian Walk of Fame which honors notable Croatian personalities from various fields, including science, arts, and sports. It is reminiscent of Hollywood’s famous walk and adds a modern cultural touch to the historic town.
